"So Far Away" is a 1985 rock song by Dire Straits. It appears on the album Brothers in Arms. It became the band's fourth top 20 hit on the Billboard charts, peaking at #19. According to the So Far Away Songfacts, the line, "I'm tired of making out on the telephone, 'cause you're so far away from me" hails back to a common element of the 1980s: the phone-sex line.
