Wiki:

"Black and White Town" is the lead single on Doves' third album, Some Cities. The single is believed to be based upon the Cheshire town of Wilmslow where the band met and scored the band their second Top 10 hit, charting at #6 on the UK Singles Chart. The atmospheric single is noted for its heavy piano and guitars played in unison, with Andy Williams' percussion maintaining a driving beat. The video for "Black and White Town" was filmed on a Glasgow council estate. There also exists a "director's cut" of the video, featuring different footage, which can be found on the DVD in the limited edition box set version of the Some Cities album. The song was used prominently by the BBC during their coverage of the 2005 Six Nations rugby tournament. Not only was it used in the 2005 Six Nations championships, but it is still used in the BBC's coverage of all international rugby. It is also used for Sky's coverage of the UEFA Champions League, as well as being used in the video game FIFA 06.

[Verse 1] Here comes the action Here it comes at last Lord give me a reaction Lord give me a chance [Pre-Chorus] You should follow me down [Chorus] In satellite towns There's no color and no sound I've been ten feet underground Got to get out of this satellite town [Verse 2] Here comes some action First time in my life I gotta get up to get compensation I gotta get up to get this to light [Bridge] Whether you live alone Or you're trying to find your way in this world You better make sure that you don't crack you're head on that pavement, man My God! what a shock! It's been preying on me and mine This is a dangerous place man This is a dangerous place, there's nothing here [Pre-Chorus] You should follow me down [Chorus] In satellite towns There's no color and no sound I've been ten feet underground In a black and white town [Guitar Solo] [Pre-Chorus] You should follow me down [Outro/Chorus] There's no color and no sound In the Black and White Town I've been ten feet underground In the black and white town
