Wiki:

"Stars", Champaign, Illinois space-rock band Hum's signature song from their major label debut You'd Prefer An Astronaut (RCA / BMG), was a rock radio hit in 1995. "Stars" seems to be a very influential song in the world of Alternative Rock - evidenced by cover versions recorded by bands including; Evergreen Terrace on Writers Block and Bleeeding Through from Fearless Record's various artist compilation Punk Goes 90's. A few seconds of the distinctive, powerful guitar part from "Stars" was used as a dramatic coda in Cadillac's 2008 CTS ads featuring Kate Walsh.

[Intro] She thinks she missed the train to Mars She's out back counting stars She thinks she missed the train to Mars She's out back counting stars [Verse 1] She's not at work, she's not at school, she's not in bed I think I finally broke her I bring her home everything I want, and nothing that she needs [Chorus] I thought she'd be there holding daisies She always waits for me She thinks she missed the train to Mars She's out back counting stars [Verse 2] I found her out back, sitting naked Looking up and looking dead A crumpled yellow piece of paper, with seven nines and tens [Chorus] I thought she'd be there holding daisies She always waits for me She thinks she missed the train to Mars She's out back counting stars [Chorus 2] I thought you'd be there holding daisies You always wait for me She thinks she missed the train to Mars She's out back counting stars
