"Fantasy" was released on September 12, 1995 as the first single from Mariah Carey's sixth album Daydream. It was co-written and co-produced by Mariah Carey and Dave Hall, and is built around a sample of "Genius of Love" by the Tom Tom Club. There are several notable remixes of the song, including the Bad Boy Mix featuring Ol' Dirty Bastard, and dance mixes by David Morales, one of which won the Winter Music Conference National Dance Award for "Dance Record of the Year".
