Teardrop is a song by Massive Attack which was first released on their 1998 album Mezzanine. It was released as a single on April 21, 1998. The song became another UK hit for the group, peaking at number 10 on the UK singles chart, and later becoming well-known as the theme for US television series House MD. The original version of the song features vocals by Elizabeth Fraser (of the Cocteau Twins). Fraser's vocal part was recorded just after she was given the news that Jeff Buckley, with whom she had a close personal relationship, was missing in the Wolf River of Memphis, Tennessee. The song's music video featured a fetus in the womb, lip-syncing the song. It was directed by Walter Stern. Instrumental portions of the song were used in the opening theme for the U.S. TV series House.
