“Bad Habit” is the second single released for Steve Lacy’s second album, Gemini Rights. It was released on June 29th, 2022, alongside an official music video. The song is mainly about reflecting on an attraction to someone, and what it could have been if he had expressed how it felt to the person he is singing about. “Bad Habit” debuted at #100 on the Billboard Hot 100 during the chart week ending of July 16, 2022. It’s Steve Lacy’s first entry on the chart. On the chart week ending of September 3, 2022, the song had reached the #1 position on three Billboard charts, the Hot Alternative Songs chart, the Hot Rock Songs chart & the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs as well as reaching the #1 position on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs & the Hot R&B Songs charts the following chart week ending of September 10, 2022, becoming the first song to top both the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rock & Alternative Songs Charts, also reaching #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 that same chart week. It would stay at #2 for four weeks before reaching the #1 position on the Hot 100 on the chart week ending of October 8, 2022, becoming Lacy's first #1 on the Hot 100.
