Wiki:

"Ruby Tuesday" is a song recorded by The Rolling Stones in 1966, released on 13 January 1967. The song was a number-one hit in the US and a number three in the UK. It was released as a single but it appeared later that week on the album Between the Buttons. According to Keith Richards in a 1971 Rolling Stone interview, he wrote the song in a Los Angeles hotel room in early 1966 about a groupie he knew. He has also stated that it was about Linda Keith, his girlfriend in the mid-1960s. The song's lyrics concern an apparently free-spirited woman, with Jagger singing, "Who could hang a name on you?/When you change with every new day/Still I'm gonna miss you." "That's a wonderful song," Mick Jagger told Jann Wenner (Rolling Stone magazine) in 1995. "It's just a nice melody, really. And a lovely lyric. Neither of which I wrote, but I always enjoy singing it."Bill Wyman states in Rolling with the Stones (BW's diary later released in bookform) that the song was completely written by Keith Richards. However, Marianne Faithfull says in her biography that the song was written by Brian Jones, and that Keith Richards only added minor parts Rolling Stone magazine ranked the song #303 on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

[Verse 1] She would never say where she came from Yesterday don't matter if it's gone While the sun is bright Or in the darkest night No one knows She comes and goes [Chorus] Goodbye Ruby Tuesday Who could hang a name on you? When you change with every new day Still I'm going to miss you [Verse 2] Don't question why she needs to be so free She'll tell you it's the only way to be She just can't be chained To a life where nothing's gained And nothing's lost At such a cost [Chorus] Goodbye Ruby Tuesday Who could hang a name on you? When you change with every new day Still I'm going to miss you [Verse 3] "There's no time to lose," I heard her say "Catch your dreams before they slip away Dying all the time Lose your dreams and you Will lose your mind Ain't life unkind?" [Chorus] Goodbye Ruby Tuesday Who could hang a name on you? When you change with every new day Still I'm going to miss you Goodbye Ruby Tuesday Who could hang a name on you? When you change with every new day Still I'm going to miss you
